## Ask a question about the page you have open

Sidelight AI Assistant reads the page you are working on so you can ask about its contents directly. Open a report, article, product listing, or dashboard, then open the assistant and describe what you need to know.

Instead of asking for a general summary, specify the decision or information you need. For an article, ask for the main claims and supporting evidence. For a pricing page, ask which limits and features differ between plans.

## Make the requested output clear

Tell the assistant how you want the answer organized. A short list works for a summary. A table is useful when comparing options. If you are checking a claim, ask where on the page the supporting information appears.

- Summarize this report in five points and list any missing data.
- Compare these products by price, dimensions, and delivery time.
- Which invoices in this table are overdue? Show the amounts and due dates.
- Explain the selected paragraph using the terms defined in this document.

## Use a selection for a more focused question

When your question concerns one part of a long page, select the relevant text and use the right-click option to ask Sidelight AI Assistant about that selection. This gives the assistant a more specific starting point.

You can continue with follow-up questions in the assistant panel. Ask it to explain a term, reorganize a comparison, or extract the numbers behind an answer. Be explicit when you want it to read another tab; access to a different tab requires your approval.

## Check important answers against the source

The assistant reads page structure, including headings, tables, and accessible fields. It can still misinterpret incomplete, changing, or ambiguous content. Verify important amounts, dates, and claims against the original page before acting on them.

The page content needed for your question is sent through the service to the selected model provider. Your conversation history stays in your browser. Read the privacy policy before using the assistant with sensitive information.
